To view a user’s communication rules:
- Open the desired user file from the Users menu (see Viewing a user file)

At the top of the user file, click on the User communication rules banner.
You will be redirected to a page listing the user’s groups and the groups with which these groups (and therefore the user) can communicate.
Section A: Who can the user communicate with?

The user’s groups in the left-hand column (1).

The groups with which the user's groups (and therefore the user) can communicate. In other words, this section shows the groups the user can see and search for (2).

When you hover over one of the user’s groups, the groups with which the group can communicate will be highlighted in orange. The reverse happens when you hover over one of the groups the user can see.
In the example above, the user Guillaume Aubert belongs to the Profile group Third-grade students. As a result, he can search for members of the following groups: Third-grade staff, Third-grade teachers at Arthur Rimbaud Elementary School, and Seventh-grade students at Charlemagne Middle School. He can also share content with these groups and potentially send them messages (if the Mailbox application is activated for these profile groups.
Section B: Who can communicate with the user?

The groups that can communicate with the groups to which the user belongs in the left-hand column. In other words, this section shows the groups that can see and search for the user (3).

When you hover over one of the groups that can see the user, the groups that the user belongs to will be highlighted in orange. The reverse happens when you hover over one of the groups that the user belongs to.
In the above example, members of the group Seventh-grade students can search for the user (as well as other members of the Third-grade students group), share content, and potentially send messages (if the Mailbox application is activated for these profile groups).
